Seeking Deputy Clerk/Treasurer/Registrar
(Training to take on the role of Clerk/Treasurer/Registrar)
The Town of Embden is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and customer-focused individual to serve as Deputy Clerk, Deputy Treasurer, and Deputy Registrar of Voters. This full-time position involves significant public interaction, financial transactions, record keeping, and administrative support under the supervision of the Town Clerk/Treasurer/Registrar in accordance with municipal, state, and federal laws.
This is an excellent opportunity to become an important member of a close-knit municipal team dedicated to providing exceptional service to the residents of Embden and helping support the day-to-day operations of local government. This position is training to take on the role of Clerk/Treasurer/Registrar.
Essential Duties Include:
- Staffing the front counter and assisting residents and visitors in person and by phone.
- Issuing state licenses, including hunting, fishing, dog, and marriage licenses.
- Maintaining dog licensing records.
- Assisting with voter registration, elections, and Registrar of Voters responsibilities.
- Maintaining website information and public records.
- Providing information to residents, real estate professionals, attorneys, and other members of the public.
- Reconciling bank accounts, payroll, creating warrants.
- Performing other related duties assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with computers and standard office software.
- Previous clerical and public-facing experience is required.
- Municipal experience and knowledge of TRIO municipal software are preferred but not required.

Embden is located in Central Maine, surrounded by two picturesque rivers (the Kennebec River and the Carrabassett River) and bordered by the following towns and territories: Anson, Concord, Lexington, New Portland, and Solon. Our current population is estimated to be about 939 year-round citizens, and that number nearly doubles when non-residents arrive to spend the summer months at their camps and cottages.
