Embden is located in Central Maine, surrounded by two picturesque rivers (the Kennebec River and the Carrabassett River) and bordered by the following towns and territories: Anson, Concord, Lexington, New Portland, and Solon.  Embden contains seven bodies of water, comprising approximately 2,200 acres: Black Hill Pond, Boynton Pond, Embden Pond, Fahi Pond, Hancock Pond, Mud Pond, and Sandy Pond. Our current population is estimated to be about 939 year-round citizens, and that number nearly doubles when non-residents arrive to spend the summer months at their camps and cottages.  A community with natural beauty and rich in history, Embden was incorporated in 1804.  Those of us who live here are proud of our history and optimistic about our future.

If you are a new resident, the Town Department pages explain available town services.  If you are planning on visiting our community, you may find the Area Resources page helpful.
